BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 29. In general, 3.32 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at the Amirabad and Neka ports in the Mazandaran Province (northern Iran), over last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), Director General of the Amirabad Port and Maritime Department Mohammad Ali Saeedipour said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to Saeedipour, 1.42 million tons of cargo were loaded, and 1.9 million tons were unloaded at the mentioned two ports last year.

The director general also added that about 862,000 tons of cargo were loaded, while 1.89 million tons were unloaded at the Amirabad port.

“It is estimated that private sector will make investment worth 7 trillion rials (about $167 million) into the Amirabad port for the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023),” he said.

Iran’s Amirabad port covers an area of 1,060 hectares. The port can receive 7.5 million tons of cargo a year.

Iran’s Neka port is located near the platform of the Iran Marine Industrial Company (SADRA). This port is mostly used for transportation of crude oil and oil products.
