BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 18. Cargo transportation through the Azerbaijani section of the Europe-Caucasus-Asia International Transport Corridor (TRACECA) grew from January through February 2022, the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan told Trend.
According to the committee, this figure exceeded seven million tons, up by 437,700 tons (6.6 percent) on annual basis.
In the first two months of this year, the cargo turnover through the Azerbaijani section of TRACECA exceeded 1.6 billion ton-kilometers (TKM), which is 91.5 million TKM (5.85 percent) more than in the same period of 2021.
Meanwhile, nearly 3.9 million tons of cargo transportation (56.2 percent of the total volume) in Azerbaijan accounted for transportation by road, over 2.2 million tons (32.3 percent) - by railway, and more than 811,800 tons (11.5 percent) - by sea.
Over 1.6 million tons (23.3 percent) of the total volume of cargo transportation accounted for transit.
