BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 21. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in the Astara port of the Gilan Province (northern Iran) increased by 65 percent in the 1st month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2022), compared to the same month last Iranian year, Trend reports via the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the statistics, over 19,000 tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in the Astara port in the 1st month. Of this, 9,460 tons were loaded and 9,590 tons were unloaded.

About 9,120 tons of cargo were exported and 9,490 tons were imported through the Astara port over the reporting month.

Also, 343 tons of cargo were loaded and 24 tons were unloaded in the port for transit during the 1st month.

According to the statistics, 1,440 tons of essential products, 233 tons of metal products, and 6,080 tons of construction and mining materials were loaded and unloaded in the Astara port in the 1st month of the current Iranian year.

Moreover, 148 tons of equipment, vehicles, spare parts, 2,740 tons of chemicals, 7,860 tons of leather goods, clothing, wood materials, paper, and so on, 144 tons of small and assorted goods, and 395 tons of container products were loaded and unloaded in this port within the mentioned month.

In general, more than 12.8 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 1st month of the current Iranian year. Of this, 6.49 million tons were loaded and 6.26 million tons were unloaded. This is an increase of 10.9 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year.
