Iran to transit cargo from Oman to CIS countries

TEHRAN, Iran, May 30. Iran is starting cargo transit from Oman via Chabahar Port to Afghanistan and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), said the director-general of Iran Road Maintenance & Transportation Organization Javad Hedayati, Trend reports citing ILNA.

He pointed out that Iran is to launch a regular shipping line with Oman and a logistic center that will be partly invested by Oman.

Hedayati went on to say that the Member States of the Ashgabat Agreement, including Iran, Oman, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan will attend a meeting to review the transportation of Iranian and Omani trucks via the Turkmenistan border.

Iranian delegation has reached agreements with Oman to activate the International North-South Transportation Corridor to connect Oman to CIS and Russia via Iran and transit cargo.
