BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 6. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in the Imam Khomeini port of the Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran) increased by 5.3 percent, in the 2nd month of the current Iranian year (April 21 through May 21, 2022), compared to the same month last Iranian year, Trend reports via the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the statistics, 4.02 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in the Imam Khomeini port in the 2nd month. Of this, 2.19 million tons were loaded and 1.83 million tons were unloaded.

“Also, 2.08 million tons of cargo were exported and 1.68 million tons were imported through the Imam Khomeini port over the reporting month. At the same time, 33,700 tons of cargo were loaded in the port for transit,” the statistics said.

Within the 2nd month, 73,500 tons of cargo were loaded and 132,000 tons were unloaded in the port for cabotage.

According to the statistics, 2,700 tons of cargo were loaded and 4,280 tons were unloaded in this port for transshipment. Furthermore, 1,060 tons of cargo were loaded, and 9,950 tons were unloaded for other purposes.

So, 1.44 million tons of essential products, 212,000 tons of metal products, 401,000 tons of construction and mining materials, 1,240 tons of equipment, vehicles, and spare parts, 273,000 tons of chemicals were loaded and unloaded in the Imam Khomeini port in the 2nd month of the current Iranian year.

Moreover, 63,200 tons of leather products, clothing, fibers, paper, and wood materials, 143,000 tons of container products, 1.48 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in this port within the mentioned month.

In general, more than 12.6 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 2nd month of the current Iranian year. Of this, 5.47 million tons were loaded and 7.12 million tons were unloaded. This is an increase of 17.5 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year.
