BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 20. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in the Astara port of the Gilan Province (northern Iran) decreased by 17 percent, in the 2nd month of the current Iranian year (April 21 through May 21, 2022), compared to the same month last Iranian year, Trend reports via the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the statistics, more than 14,600 tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in the Astara port in the 2nd month. Of this, 11,000 tons were loaded and 3,600 tons were unloaded.

About 9,190 tons of cargo were exported and 3,460 tons were imported through the Astara port over the reporting month.

Also, 1,850 tons of cargo were loaded and 136 tons were unloaded in the port for transit during the 2nd month.

According to the statistics, 18 tons of essential products, 416 tons of metal products, and 5,740 tons of construction and mining materials were loaded and unloaded in the Astara port in the 2nd month of the current Iranian year.

Moreover, 43 tons of equipment, vehicles, spare parts, 2,520 tons of chemicals, 3,600 tons of leather goods, clothing, wood materials, paper, and so on, 547 tons of small and assorted goods, and 1,760 tons of container products were loaded and unloaded in this port within the mentioned month.

In general, more than 12.6 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 2nd month of the current Iranian year. Of this, 5.47 million tons were loaded and 7.12 million tons were unloaded. This is an increase of 17.5 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year.
