Volume of cargo loaded/unloaded at ports of Iran’s Bushehr Province increases

BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 31. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded at the ports of Iran’s Bushehr Province in south of the country, increased by 17 percent, during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through January 20, 2023), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director General of Bushehr Province’s Ports and Maritime Department Mohammad Shakibinasab said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.

According to Shakibinasab, in total, about 49.7 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at the ports of the Bushehr Province in 10 months.

“Of the mentioned volume, 41.2 million tons accounted for crude oil and related products, while 8.5 million tons for non-oil products,” he added.

The official also pointed out that a total of 193,000 TEU containers were loaded and unloaded at the province’s ports over 10 months, which is an increase of 7 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.

Shakibinasab noted that 6,408 ships docked at the port of the province within the mentioned period, which is 12 percent more than in the same period last Iranian year.

“At the same time, 6,384 ships left the province’s ports in 10 months, which is 16 percent more compared to the same period last Iranian year,” he said.

In addition, 210,120 passengers were transported through the province’s ports in 10 months. This is an increase of 3.5 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.

There are several ports, including Bushehr, Kharg, Genaveh, Dayyer, Asaluyeh, and others operating in Iran’s Bushehr Province.
