BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 29. The activity of 7 planes of the Islamic Republic of Iran Airline Company (IranAir) is planned to be restored within approximately the next 6 months, CEO of the company, Shamsaddin Farzadipour said, Trend reports.
“Thus, the activity of 5 ‘ATR’, 1 ‘Airbus 319’ and 1 "Airbus 320" aircrafts will be resumed within the mentioned period,” Farzadipour noted.
The CEO added that currently, 11 ‘ATR’ aircrafts of the IranAir Company are not operating. One of the reasons for the mentioned planes not being actively used - lack of spare parts for them.
According to him, ‘ATR’ passenger planes are more suitable for use in Iran. It is possible to use these planes in all directions within the country.
Over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), IranAir Company has spent 900 billion rials (about $21.4 million) for purchasing of the needed 8 spare parts from local companies, the official said.
Currently, Iran's has 150 passenger planes, but it is reported that the country needs 500 passenger planes.
Due to the new sanctions imposed on Iran by the US and Western countries, it has become difficult for the country to purchase passenger planes.
