BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 2. Representatives of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) handed the EcoPort certificate to the Turkmenbashi International Seaport of Turkmenistan, Trend reports.
The EcoPort certificate is a confirmation of compliance with certain standards and requirements in the field of sustainable use and protection of marine and coastal resources.
The certificate was issued within the framework of the OSCE project on strengthening green ports and connectivity in the Caspian Sea region.
It provides for the creation of a digital platform to facilitate the exchange of information between the ports of Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan. This system, in turn, will be connected to large and modern ports in Europe.
The project is supported by the OSCE and some European countries, taking into account the existing potential for the development of transport and energy cooperation with the states of the Caspian region.
