BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 14. Iran plans to put 6 new airbridges into use at 4 airports of the country, during the August 24 through August 31, 2023, an official of Iran Airports and Air Navigation company (IAC), Mirsaeed Safinia said, Trend reports.
According to the official, in general, 12 airbridges are planned to be put into use at 8 airports of the country by the end of next Iranian year (March 20, 2025).
Safinia added that it is planned to launch 4 airbridges at Shiraz airport, 2 airbridges at Mashhad airport, 2 airbridges at Yazd airport, 1 air bridge at each of Ahvaz, Abadan, Rasht, Ardabil and Gorgan airports.
“Overall, 3.7 trillion rials (about $88 million) will be spent on launch the mentioned airbridges,” he said.
There are 54 active civil airports in Iran. Some 14 of them are international airports. An average of 30 million passengers are transported through Iranian airports per year.
