BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 19. Turkmenistan and Latvia discussed the possibilities of deepening cooperation in the field of logistics, Trend reports.

These issues were discussed at the third meeting of the Turkmen-Latvian transport working group, which is taking place in Riga, the capital of Latvia.

The parties highlighted the appropriateness of creating production and transport and logistics enterprises, terminals, warehouses on the territories of Latvian ports and special economic zones for the production, storage, processing and distribution of Turkmen goods on the market of the EU, the Baltic States and Scandinavia.

Furthermore, they discussed topical issues of the development of mutually beneficial relations, as well as identified guidelines for further development between the two countries.

In particular, the parties considered the possibilities of expanding cooperation, further implementation of joint projects aimed at the development of the transit and logistics sector.

The delegates noted the possibility of increasing container and combined intermodal cargo transportation between Latvia and Turkmenistan, as well as other Central Asian countries, with the connection of various transit corridors and with an emphasis on the development of alternative logistics routes based on TRACECA.
