BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 6. In total, 170 trillion rials (about $4.05 billion) has been spent on the construction of traffic lane of 2nd part of Iran's Tehran-Shomal Freeway in Alborz Province, Trend reports.
On July 6, 2023, the traffic lane of the 2nd part of Tehran-Shomal Freeway was officially opened. In this regard an event was held. The opening ceremony was attended by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mehrdad Bazrpash and other officials.
The part opened today connects Doab Sharestanak station in Alborz Province to Pol-e Zanguleh station in Mazandaran Province, reducing the distance by 30 minutes.
Overall, 17 tunnels and 9 bridges with a total length of 19.7 km have been built in the traffic lane of the 2nd part of the Tehran-Shomal Freeway
As a result of the opening of the mentioned traffic lane of the Tehran-Shomal Freeway, 12.5 million liters of fuel will be saved per year, as well as air pollutants will be reduced by 511 tons per year. As many as 3,000 people worked daily to lay the traffic lane of the 2nd part of the freeway.
The Tehran-Shomal Freeway connects Tehran Province to the Chalus city in the Mazandaran Province (northern Iran).
This freeway consists of 4 parts. The length of the first part is 32 km, the second part is 22 km, the third part - 47 km, and the fourth part - 20 km.
The 4th part was launched in 2015. Given the increase in travel to the northern regions of Iran during the holidays in Iran, the construction of this freeway is in the spotlight.
