BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 18. The development of multimodal transport between TRACECA [Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia] and the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) plays a key role in easing trade between Europe and Asia, where legal regulation creates all the necessary prerequisites, Secretary General of the Permanent Secretariat of the Intergovernmental Commission (PS IPC) TRACECA Asset Asavbayev said, TRACECA's press service told Trend.

Assavbayev made the remark at the Multimodal Transport and Logistics Forum in Istanbul.

He emphasized the importance of adhering to legal norms that contribute to the development of multimodal transportation and transportation connectivity.

The official also informed the participants about the work carried out by both the PS and the member countries in this direction.

"Through joint efforts, we can significantly contribute to enhancing the competitiveness of transportation in the region, which is crucial at this stage of reorienting cargo flows and demand for free transit of goods," he said.

The Multimodal Transport and Logistics Forum was aimed at supporting cooperation, strengthening partnerships, and increasing the efficiency and resilience of global supply chains, with special attention to the development of multimodal transport routes along the Central and Southern corridors.

The forum's 5th session, jointly organized by the PS IPC TRACECA and the OTS, was moderated by Assavbayev.

The session speakers, representatives of the Turkic Investment Fund, Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) organization, International Road Transport Union (IRU), International Center for Transport Diplomacy (ICTD), as well as Azerbaijan, made presentations and actively participated in the discussion of new opportunities to ensure regional connectivity.

The forum also featured the Second Meeting of Heads of Railway Administrations of the OTS, along with the signing ceremony of agreements and memoranda of understanding between companies.
