Marine Merchant Fleet of Turkmenistan exceeds cargo transportation plan

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 22. The Marine Merchant Fleet of Turkmenistan transported more than 1.5 million tons of cargo from January through August of this year, Trend reports.

During the specified period, the fleet's cargo transportation plan for the eight months of this year was exceeded by 30.1 percent.

Cargo turnover from January through August 2023 amounted to more than 626.35 million ton-kilometers, which is 25.4 percent higher than in the same period of 2022, while the cargo turnover plan was exceeded by 127.4 percent.

In turn, the passenger turnover for the reporting period exceeded the figures for the same period in 2022 by 165.5 percent and amounted to 6.19 million passenger-kilometers.

Furthermore, the number of containers transported during the designated period amounted to 2,773 TEU containers, an increase of 2.6 times.

Meanwhile, the increase in the growth rate of cargo transportation by sea vessels in Turkmenistan is closely related to the growing volume of exports of various goods, including crude oil, petroleum products and bulk cargo.
