BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 2. Car transit through Iran’s Bandar Lengeh port in Hormozgan Province (southern Iran) increased by 46 percent, during the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Director of Hormozgan Province Ports and Maritime Department Morteza Salari said, Trend reports.
Salari noted that a total of 101,751 cars were transited to Central Asian countries and Iraq via Iran’s Bandar Lengeh port in 6 months.
The director also added that approximately 238,000 tons of cargo were transited from the western ports of Iran's Hormozgan Province in the first half of the current Iranian year.
The Bandar Lengeh port in Iran's Hormozgan Province is considered the second most important port after Bandar Abbas port.
Meanwhile, around 316,000 tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at the Bandar Lengeh port in the 5th month of the current Iranian year (July 23 through August 22, 2023), which is an increase of 38.8 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year.
Overall, 7.7 million tons of cargo were transited through Iran during the first 6 months of the current Iranian year, which is an increase of 8.24 percent compared to the same period last year.
