ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, January 10. Turkmenistan and Afghanistan have reached an agreement on the provision of land to the Turkmen side for the expansion of the joint railway, Trend reports.
This agreement was reached during a meeting between the Ambassador of Turkmenistan in Kabul, Khoja Ovezov, and the head of the Afghan Railways Authority, Bakht-ur-Rahman Sharafat.
According to the information, the Afghan Railways Authority will provide Turkmenistan with land to begin practical work on the construction of canopies and new sublines on the transit route of the Herat-Turgundi crossing.
On this occasion, a commission was sent to Herat province in western Afghanistan to determine the site.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov, headed by the delegation of Turkmenistan, made a working trip to Afghanistan, Herat province, on December 16-17 last year, where he discussed with the relevant leaders the status of the implementation of TAPI and TAP projects as well as issues of expanding the railway infrastructure of Afghanistan.
During his trip to Turgundi in the north of Herat, Meredov visited the construction of the Afghanistan-Turkmenistan railway line.
