ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, March 15. Turkmenistan is ready to consider specific proposals from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to participate in projects to create transport and transit corridors, Trend reports.
According to an official source, this was stated by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov during a meeting with EBRD’s Vice President for Policy and Partnerships Mark Bowman.
During the meeting, the parties noted that the favorable geographical location of Turkmenistan is a key factor in the development of the country's transport and logistics systems.
They noted that special attention is paid here to the formation of interconnectedness among all modes of transport, and work is underway to create multi-vector North-South and East-West transport corridors of regional and international importance.
Furthermore, the meeting focused in this context on the prospects for enhancing international communications on the Caspian Sea, for which it is necessary to optimally use the available opportunities.
It was noted that there is great potential to increase the capacity of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport in Turkmenistan.
Meanwhile, in total, the EBRD's investments in Turkmenistan for all time exceed 334 million euros and cover 87 different projects in various sectors of the country's economy.
