BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 16. Passenger traffic by all modes of transport in Azerbaijan from January through March 2024 amounted to 452,911 people (that is, nearly 452 million, given round trips and arrivals), which is 6.9 percent more than the first quarter of 2023, Trend reports.
The data from the State Statistical Committee showed that the majority of passenger transportation (over 396 million trips) was by road (a growth of 7.5 percent), with over 378 million by bus (a growth of 7.3 percent).
Passenger traffic by rail increased by 24.6 percent to 1.88 million, by metro - 1.6 percent to over 53 million, and by air transport - 45.1 percent to 782,100.
By sea, 6,200 passengers were transported during the quarter (an increase of 31.9 percent).
To note, passenger transportation by road amounted to 1.69 billion people last year, which is 20.6 percent more than in 2022.
