ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, April 22. Russian Railways is ready to contribute to the electrification of Turkmenistan's railway infrastructure in the key direction from Turkmenbashi city to Turkmenabat city, Vyacheslav Pavlovsky, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Russian Railways, told Russian media, Trend reports.
"In terms of infrastructure projects, the Russian side is ready to assist in the electrification of railway infrastructure in the key direction from Turkmenbashi to Turkmenabat and is ready to offer an integrated approach in terms of creating a regulatory framework for electrification and personnel training," Pavlovsky said.
He also stressed that the parties had agreed on the reconstruction of the railcar repair plant in Gyzylarbat city.
Furthermore, according to him, Russian Railways is working closely with the Turkmen side on the development of human resources, and a training program for Turkmen railway workers has been prepared at the Corporate University of Russian Railways.
"In addition to the training program, Turkmen colleagues are expected to visit railway transport facilities in Moscow and St. Petersburg, and teachers of the Corporate University are expected to visit Turkmenistan," Pavlovsky said.
Meanwhile, Ivan Tonkikh, General Representative of Russian Railways in Turkmenistan, recently stated that the Russian side is particularly interested in the development of the International North-South Transport Corridor, adding that Turkmenistan occupies a unique position in Central Asia, through which international trade routes pass.
