ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, May 29. Representatives of Turkmenistan Airlines discussed with the Acting Chargé d'Affaires at the Embassy of the State of Qatar to Turkmenistan Ghanem bin Abdullah Al-Remaihi the opening of direct flights between the countries, Trend reports.

During the meeting, the parties focused on the possibility of establishing direct and transit flights. As part of this effort, a proposal was made to organize promotional campaigns for Qatar Airways in Turkmenistan, including information about tariffs and services.

Furthermore, they talked about the benefits that Qatari airports would offer to Turkmenistan Airlines' Ashgabat - Doha - Ashgabat flight, should it be launched, in an effort to boost transit passenger traffic.

At the same time, the parties noted that citizens of Turkmenistan will be able to use the online service for simplified visa processing when traveling to Qatar.

In general, the meeting confirmed Turkmenistan's course towards further development of civil aviation and expansion of international air traffic.

Meanwhile, Turkmenistan Airlines earlier this year announced plans to launch flights from Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, to a number of new destinations, such as Milan (Italy), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), and Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam).

This year, Turkmenistan Airlines intends to fly to 14 international destinations in 12 countries around the world.
