BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 17. Several projects will be undertaken on the segment connecting Russia, Azerbaijan, and Iran as part of the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC), Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak told TASS, Trend reports.
“The capacity of the railroad will be expanded, enhancing interactions with our southern partner countries. Specifically, an agreement has been reached with Iranian partners to complete the missing section of the railroad between Astara (on the Iran-Azerbaijan border) and Rasht, spanning 162 kilometers. This is essential to seamlessly connecting the North-South Transport Corridor from the Baltic Sea to the Persian Gulf,” he said.
The International North-South Transport Corridor project,
initiated in 2000, involves 14 participating countries.
The corridor encompasses multiple routes, including railroad and
automobile sections passing through Azerbaijan.
