BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 15. Ukrainian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Yuriy Husyev and Secretary General of the Permanent Secretariat of the TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission Asset Assavbayev have discussed cooperation within the Middle Corridor, the Ukraine ambassador to Azerbaijan wrote on X, Trend reports.
“We discussed cooperation on the Middle Corridor, strengthening of economic ties, and joint infrastructure projects. Strengthening regional partnership is very important for us,” he wrote.
To note, Ukraine is a participant in the international program TRACECA, which has been implemented with the assistance of the EU since 1993.
TRACECA is designed to help the countries of Eastern Europe, the South Caucasus, and Central Asia to ensure the transit of goods between Asia and Europe.
The Middle Corridor is a segment of TRACECA and has been actively developing since 2014.
The Middle Corridor, or TITR, has been developing for 10 years, but the last two years have been particularly active due to new geopolitical realities.
A total of 2.7 million tons of cargo passed through it in 2023, and already in 9 months of 2024, 3.4 million tons. Plans for 2024 of 4.2 million tons are likely to be exceeded.
