Ihtiyor Abdullayev, who previously served as prosecutor general of Uzbekistan, was appointed chairman of the National Security Service.
This was announced on January 31 during a meeting chaired by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev with the participation of representatives of the General Prosecutor's Office and the country’s National Security Service.
Otabek Murodov, who previously served as state adviser to the Uzbek president, held the post of prosecutor general.
Meanwhile, Abdullayev held the post of prosecutor general in Uzbekistan in April 2015. In February 2017, he also headed the Republican Interdepartmental Commission on Combating Corruption.
