By Huseyn Hasanov – Trend:

Turkmenistan will put into orbit the second artificial satellite soon, Trend reports referring to the Turkmen Dovlet Khabarlary state agency, which cited Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov as saying.

The Turkmen president met with scholars.

“Presently, as a result of the use of the most advanced equipment, there is a highly-structured communication system in our country,” the president said. “The launch of our national artificial satellite Turkmen Alem 520Е into orbit opened up broad opportunities.”

Earlier it was reported that about 1.300 million Turkmen manats ($1 - 3.5 manats) will be invested in the development of the space sector in Turkmenistan in 2018-2024.

The satellite is expected to be used to develop all sectors of the national economy. The data on hard-to-reach, high-speed and other facilities will be obtained through the satellite.

In power engineering sector, it will be possible to create e-maps of power transmission lines and transformer substations, collect, process and store the obtained data, monitor the technical condition of facilities.

Probing will also allow conducting environmental monitoring of oil fields, pipeline corridors and refineries, including detection of oil spills and monitoring the activity of oil and gas companies.

It will be possible to regularly receive images of certain regions, determine the area of arable land and pastures and receive information about the land plots through the satellite.

The first TurkmenAlem 52° E satellite, promoting the development of telecommunications and communications even in remote settlements located in the Karakum Desert was launched into the near-earth orbit in 2015.
