The fifth session of the Kazakh Parliament of 4th convocation is planned to be opened at the joint session on Sept. 1, the parliament reported.

Kazakh Parliamentary Speaker Ural Mukhamedzhanov has signed a decree to define a date of convocation of a joint session of the Parliament Houses.

"In accordance with subparagraph 2) of paragraph 4 of the Article 58 of the Constitution of Kazakhstan order to convene a joint session of the Parliament chambers in Astana at 10:00 am on Sept.1, 2011," the decree reads.

The Parliament receives its authority with the opening of its first session and ends with the first session of the new parliament.

The upper house- Senate will resume work in the new composition. Some 16 new senators were elected in the elections of Aug.19 and they all represent the ruling party Nur Otan. According to the Kazakh Constitution, the president appoints15 senators.

The lower house- Majlis consists of 107 deputies. Some 98 deputies are elected from political parties on the party lists under a single national district on the basis of universal, equal and direct suffrage by secret ballot.

The elections to the Majlis are carried out no later than two months before the end of the term of the current Parliament.
