Parliamentary elections in Kazakhstan have been held openly and calmly, the Russian observer, executive secretary of the EurAsEC Interparliamentary Assembly Petr Zverev said on Sunday.

"I was at a few sites that caught on the way of my route. Thus, there was no pre-approved route. Though the elections were held openly and calmly, yet I want to say about the issue I saw in all areas I visited: the absence of names of voters who came to the election. For example, the lists have a wife's, but not her husband's surname, "- said Zverev.

He noted that this problem must be solved.

The elections to Majilis and maslikhats have been held today in Kazakhstan. The preliminary election results will be announced on January 16.

The Nur Otan national-democratic party, Adilet, Kazakhstan Patriots' Party, Nationwide social-democratic party, Ak Zhol, Communist People's Party of Kazakhstan and the Kazakh Social Democratic Party Auyl are taking part in the elections.
