Kazakhstan hopes to annually commission 6 million square meters of housing within a new housing program in Kazakhstan, the PM's official website reported.

The program is a logical continuation of a previous state program on housing construction for 2008-2010, within which 19.7 million square meters of housing was commissioned. Nearly 535,000 Kazakhs improved their living conditions.

During the first eleven months of 2011, Kazakhstan commissioned 5.4 million square meters of housing, which is 3.2 percent more than in 2010. Some 361.5 billion tenge ($2.4 billion) was spent for housing construction. The public sector in Kazakhstan holds only 9.7 percent of the total commissioned housing.
