Kazakh Foreign Minister Yerzhan Kazykhanov will pay a working visit to Turkmenistan on May 10, Kazakh Foreign Ministry Spokesman Altay Abibullayev said at a press briefing.
Within the visit he is scheduled to meet with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov.
"The meeting is supposed to discuss the status and prospects of Kazakh-Turkmen cooperation," Abibullayev said.
Kazakhstan attaches great importance to relations with Central Asian states, including with Turkmenistan, Kazakh Ambassador to Ashgabat Askhat Orazbai said earlier.
The volume of trade turnover between the two countries in 2011 doubled compared to 2010. Trade and economic sphere, fuel and energy complex, transport and communication sector, agriculture and fishery, as well as tourism are defined among the priority areas of cooperation.
