Kazakhstan will borrow 1.2 billion cubic meters of gas from China, Russia and Uzbekistan for the heating season, Kazinform reported with the reference to Oil and Gas Minister Sauat Mynbayev.

"We have agreed on a 1.2 billion cubic meters of gas loan with China, Gazprom [Russian gas company] and Uzbekistan to provide the country with the gas in the heating season. Gas consumption is growing," Mynbayev said.

Mynbayev added that the agreement with China will be signed in the coming days.

Mynbayev said that 500 million cubic meters of borrowed gas is intended for heating season 2012, including December and other 700 million cubic meters of gas will be consumed in January, February and March 2013.

Kazakhstan borrowed 800 million cubic meters of gas from Gazprom in the previous heating season, Mynbayev said.

"The work on borrowed gas returned on September 1... The debt will be closed by November," the Minister said.
