IV session of the Kazakh-Polish intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, established in accordance with the agreement between the Governments of Kazakhstan and Poland on economic cooperation was held on Monday in Astana.

Previous (III) session was held in June 2011 in Warsaw.

Kazakh part of the commission headed by Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Rapil Zhoshybayev, Polish part - by the Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economy of Poland Waldemar Pawlak.

According to the agenda, the sides discussed a wide range of priorities and perspectives for the development of trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.

The significant potential of bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and Poland is in housing construction and housing and communal services, pharmacy and medicine, agro-processing, in the defense industry, manufacture of mining machinery and equipment, the development of technologies for environmental protection and other areas of cooperation.

To date, the state and prospects of Kazakh-Polish relations are characterized by steady growth. Poland is one of the main European trading partners of Kazakhstan, occupying a leading position in terms of volume of trade turnover with Kazakhstan in Central and Eastern Europe. According to Kazakhstan's statistics, in 2011, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Poland reached 1.7 billion U.S. dollars, the amount of Polish investments in the past 10 years, more than 110 million U.S. dollars. The volume of trade in the years of economic recession in the world since 2008, almost doubled.

It should be noted that in spring 2012, the Ministry of Economy of Poland including Kazakhstan, along with Canada, Brazil, Turkey and Algeria, among five promising for the Polish business markets, trade and investment cooperation that will receive special support from the government.

Following the meeting, a protocol of IV session of the Kazakh-Polish intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation was signed, which reflects the main areas of bilateral economic cooperation in the fields of energy, construction, transport, agriculture, the military-industrial complex, to support small and medium-security environment, tourism, banking and finance, science and education.

Entrepreneurship Development Fund "Damu" and the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development signed a "Cooperation Program for 2012-2013."

In the framework of the IGC meeting was organized Kazakh-Polish business forum in which to participate in Astana were representatives of leading Polish companies interested in establishing and expanding business contacts with Kazakh partners.

Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economy of Poland met with Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Massimov. The Polish side has declared its intention to support Kazakhstan's bid to host the Expo in Astana - 2017.
