The Kazakh Central Election Commission has announced the results of elections to maslikhats (local representative bodies) to replace the retired deputies which took place on Oct. 29.
According to CEC, Kazakh ruling party Nur Otan has received 42 mandates (almost 95 percent), Kazakh Communist People's Party received one mandate (2.2 percent) and independent candidates - two mandates (4.4 percent).
Within the elections, ten deputies were elected to regional maslikhats, eight deputies to city maslikhats and 27 deputies to district maslikhats. There were only four women among the elected deputies.
By-elections to maslikhats took place on October 28 and were held in 45 constituencies of 11 regions. Voter turnout, according to preliminary data hit 70.8 percent.
