On Thursday Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev received UN Deputy Secretary General Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, Kazakh presidential press-service reported.
"During the meeting the parties discussed topical international issues, and the prospects of further intensifying cooperation between Kazakhstan and the UN," the press-service said.
Within the meeting Nazarbayev noted the need to resolve conflicts in the world through negotiations and stressed important role of the United Nations in such issues.
Tokayev, in turn, spoke about the current activities of the UN Conference on Disarmament, and underlined the important role of Kazakhstan in the prohibition of nuclear weapons and reduction of nuclear arsenals.
