Kazakhstan adopts new law on state border

Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev signed the Law "On State Border of the Republic of Kazakhstan", the presidential press-service reported.

The law aims at regulating relations in state border protection.

Moreover, the President signed the Law "On amendments and supplements to some legislative acts on the state border to bringing some laws into compliance with the new law "On State Border"

The new law on state border was initiated following an incident on Kazakh Arkankergen border post in May 2012 and should strengthen the national security of Kazakhstan

Some 15 bodies were found at the Arkankergen border post in late May including 14 border guards and a ranger. Vladislav Chelakh, 20-year-old conscript, was sentenced to life imprisonment after being found only man responsible for the killings.
