Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev and his South Korean counterpart Park Geun-hye discussed the development of a strategic partnership as well as the key aspects of cooperation between the two countries, the Kazakh presidential press service reported.

The meeting took place during the G20 Summit in Saint-Petersburg (Russia).
In particular the parties discussed projects in the economic, trade, energy, investment, machine-building spheres and cooperation in the field of high technology.

Nursultan Nazarbayev and Park Geun-hye also discussed issues on the international agenda and strengthening of regional security.
They also spoke the implementation of the agreements reached during the visit of former South Korean President Lee Myung-bak to Kazakhstan.

Nazarbayev noted that Kazakhstan is cooperating closely with South Korea.

"Today our countries are cooperating actively in the trade, economic and investment fields. The Korean company is involved in the construction of a thermal power plant in our country. We have implemented a number of joint projects in engineering and petrochemical spheres. Moreover, the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation is working well and the investment portfolio amounted to about $8 billion as a result." he said.

Within the meeting Nazarbayev congratulated Park Geun-hye on election to the post of president and invited her to pay a visit to Kazakhstan.

The South Korean president in turn thanked her Kazakh counterpart for the invitation and promised to visit Kazakhstan.
"We are pleased to congratulate Kazakhstan on the forthcoming EXPO-2017 in Astana. We have experience in organising such events and are willing to share this experience," Park Geun-hye said.
