Amount of reported crimes in oil sector increases in Kazakhstan

The number of cases of illicit traffic in oil and oil products in Kazakhstan increased by 10 times, Agency for Fighting Economic and Corruption Crimes' press service said on Thursday.
"Head of the Agency's Department Zhanat Elimanov said at the meeting of the Agency that during nine months, the number of reported financial and economic crimes increased by 36 percent, or from 2,793 to 3,798.Thus, the number of reported crimes in trafficking of crude oil and petroleum products increased by 10 times (from 13 to 136), in false entrepreneurship fourfold (from 198 to 771), in money laundering threefold (from 39 to 110), in false and deliberate bankruptcy by 2.5 times or from 39 to 98 and so on," the statement said.
According to the information by the press service, Financial Police's head Rashid Tusupbekov noted the positive results in combating the underground economy and instructed to continue working in this direction. He set the task to intensify efforts to identify cases of embezzlement of public funds in the activities of the national companies and development institutions.
