SCAT Airlines plans to launch direct Astrakhan - Almaty flight

A delegation of Kazakh SCAT Airlines, headed by Vice-President Vladimir Sitnic visited Russian Astrakhan region, press-service of the Russian region's administration.

Within the visit SCAT delegation discussed transport cooperation and opening of a direct flight from Almaty to Astrakhan with Astrakhan region's authorities.
SCAT Airlines already flies from the city of Astrakhan to Aktau. About 10,000 passengers per year fly to this destination.

The direct flight Astrakhan - Almaty is a promising route. According to the forecasts, the potential ridership is estimated at 8,000-9,000 per year, including transfer of passengers traveling from the city of Astrakhan to neighboring republics (Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan).

"Astrakhan region has been cooperating in economic, tourist and cultural spheres with Kazakhstan for a long time. Our shipbuilding yards are building tugs and repair the fleet for Kazakh partners. We are connected by road, rail and air routes. There is now a need to enhance transport cooperation and we will do everything to promote it," Deputy Chairman of Astrakhan region's government, regional minister of industry, transport and natural resources Sergei Krzhanovsky said.

During his visit to Astrakhan Oblast representatives of SCAT airline examined the infrastructure and equipment of the airport, got acquainted with the work of the passenger terminal and fueling station, and visited the production services of the airport.
