By Elena Kosolapova - Trend: Capacity of the largest Kazakh airports in the cities of Astana and Almaty will be increased by 40-50 percent by 2017, Novosti-Kazakhstan reported on Jan. 29.
It was announced by the Deputy Chairman of the Civil Aviation Committee under Transport and Communications Ministry, Serik Mukhtybayev at the conference Aviation days in Kazakhstan.
"Such plans are a part of preparation for EXPO-2017 exhibition in Astana," he said.
The infrastructure of many Kazakh airports is threadbare and the country is implementing a program for their reconstruction, according to Mukhtybayev. The reconstruction works are being carried out by state and private investors
