The Interparliamentary Assembly of CIS Member States praised the election to the Senate (upper house of the parliament) of Kazakhstan, Farhad Rahimov, the coordinator of the international observers' group from IPA told reporters.

"We have the largest delegation consisting of 28 people from six CIS countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Russia and Moldova. Prior to this, our experts monitored and fully analyzed the pre-election campaign. And our final report says that the election was held in accordance with the international standards and the law of Kazakhstan." he said.

Rahimov, said Kazakhstan has held honest, open and transparent election.

The Interparliamentary Assembly of CIS includes experts from the International Institute of Monitoring of Development of Democracy, Parliamentarism and Protection of Electoral Rights of citizens of CIS countries, employees of the Secretariat of the Council of IPA CIS and others.

The secretary general of the IPA CIS Council is Alexey Sergeev.

Kazakhstan's Central Election Commission said that 53 candidates were registered for participation in the election. However, only 39 of them were included in the list of candidates, as the remaining 14 withdrew their candidacies.

Kazakh CEC earlier said that 166 observers from other countries and international organizations, as well as 110 foreign media representatives monitor the preparations and the process of the election.
