Astana, Kazakhstan, Oct. 20
By Daniar Mukhtarov - Trend:
The enterprises operating at Kazakhstan's prisons can be allowed to fulfil the state defense orders, the Interior Minister Kalmukhanbet Kassymov said Oct. 20 at a 'government hour' in the lower chamber of country's parliament, locally known as the Majilis.
Kassymov said the possibility of permitting the correctional system's enterprises to work on the state defense order is being studied, adding that this would make it possible to start production of special military uniforms and badges for soldiers of the armed forces, as well as other troops and units.
He believes that the combination of these measures will significantly improve the production at the enterprises of the correctional system.
Kassymov said his ministry is engaged reconstruction and technical re-equipment of production capacities at these enterprises.
He added that in general, the correctional facilities annually manufacture products and provide services worth 12 billion KZT (around $65 million on Oct. 20).
