Kazakhstan expects over 2 million people to visit the international exhibition EXPO, which will be held in 2017 in Astana, Chairman of the Board of National Company Astana EXPO-2017 JSC Talgat Ermegiyaev told Trend.
"I am confident that the EXPO-2017 will additionally stimulate economic and infrastructural development of the capital and the republic as a whole," said Ermegiyaev.
"We will have tens of thousands of new jobs both in the process of preparation for the EXPO and after its completion. Domestic tourism will be developed, the flow of foreign tourists will expand and so on. The entire infrastructure of the exhibition, constructed buildings, the gained experience, new knowledge - everything will benefit our citizens."
He said that the government structures involved in the organization of EXPO-2017 expect and consistently move to ensure that facilities constructed within the framework of the exhibition, would make it possible to consider Kazakhstan and Astana as a major international, exhibition and information-presentation platform in the future.
"The main city of our country will rank alongside London, Paris, Montreal, Seattle and Shanghai, which were hosting EXPO," said Ermegiyaev.
The chairman of the board of the National Company Astana EXPO-2017 also said that it is expected that advances in science and innovation, presented at the exhibition, will be further used in the real sector of economy.
In 2017, the International Specialized Exhibition EXPO will be held for the first time in Kazakhstan. It will take place from June 10 to September 10 in Astana. The capital of Kazakhstan won the voting to host EXPO-2017 at the 152nd General Assembly of the International Exhibitions Bureau November 22, 2012. "Future Energy" was selected the theme of the exhibition.
National Company Astana EXPO-2017 was created in 2013. The main objectives of its activity are the preparation and holding of the exhibition EXPO-2017 and operation and use of objects of EXPO-2017 after the completion of the exhibition.
