More than 23 million tons of grain has been harvested in Kazakhstan as of October 10, which is a record high for the country, Kazakh Agriculture Ministry quoted Kairat Aituganov, agriculture vice-minister, as saying Oct. 10.

This figure is 1.4 times higher than in the last year, and indicates one of the record harvests in the whole history of the independent Kazakhstan, Aituganov said at a government meeting Oct. 10.

The average yield was 15.2 quintals per hectare.

Kazakhstan is among the world’s major grain producers and exporters.

The biggest grain harvest of nearly 27 million tons in net weight was recorded in Kazakhstan in 2011.
