The members of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan began to discuss the bill "On the preparation of a conclusion on the bill of the Republic of Kazakhstan" On the ratification of the Protocol on making changes to the Rent Agreement of the Baikonur complex between the government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the government of the Russian Federation dated December 10, 1994, Trend reports with reference to Kazinform news agency.
Chairperson of the Mazhilis Committee on International Affairs, Defense and Security, MP Aigul Kuspan reminded that the protocol "On Changes to the Rent Agreement for the Baikonur Complex between the government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the government of the Russian Federation as of December 10, 1994" was signed on November 9, 2018, in Petropavlovsk city.
"The purpose of the protocol is to change the fourth article of the agreement between the governments of the two countries to extend the term of the rent of Baikonur complex by the Russian side until 2050,” Kuspan said at the plenary session of the Mazhilis. “The committee is ready to accept this bill and prepare a conclusion till October 5, 2021."
A number of documents were signed in 2018 in Petropavlovsk at the 15th Russia-Kazakhstan Interregional Cooperation Forum.
