Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Ecology, Geology, and Natural Resources disclosed the results of tenders for allotting sites of ‘Altyn-Emel’, ‘Kolsai kolderi" and ‘Charyn’ national parks in the Almaty region for the long-term use of tourist and recreational activities, Trend reports referring to Kazinform.
According to the ministry, all applications for participation in the tenders were submitted by 6 potential investors. The projects of the tender documents were published on the official Internet resources of the national parks, and for each park, the preliminary discussions were held with the participants of the tenders.
As a result, QazaqGeography Public Association has announced the winner of tenders held for Charyn State National Park (on behalf of the consortium within Taunton Plus LLP) and for ‘Altyn-Emel’ National Park (on behalf of the consortium within ‘Asemtal’ LLP), while ‘Atyrau-Rent’ LLP- winner of the tender for ‘Kolsai kolderi’ National Park.
In order to develop ecological tourism in the territory of the state national parks, there were prepared and conducted presentations of the concepts of ecological tourism development in the above-mentioned three parks.
The concepts were discussed with the participation of members of the public councils set up under the given national parks to ensure transparency of the adopted decisions.
The concepts focus on the development of tourist routes and paths, the placement of tourist facilities without the implementation of capital construction, provided for the creation of modern visitor centers, glamping (glamorous camping with the use of tents), camping, Kazakh auls (special villages) and places for hiking with the use of caravans – special trailers for accommodation).
At the same time, there was conducted work on the adjustment of the general plans of the national parks of the Almaty Group, regarding the development of ecotourism infrastructure in accordance with the adopted concepts.
The sites of national parks for tourist and recreational activities will be allotted for a long time use after the tender procedures, in accordance with the local rules of tourist and recreational activities at the national parks.
Thus, the implementation of the concepts on three national parks attracted investments in the amount of 14.5 billion tenge ($33 million), including the Charyn National Park - 4.5 billion tenge ($1 million), ‘Kolsai kolderi’ and ‘Altyn-Emel’ - 5 billion tenge ($1.2 million).
