Kazakhstan unveils timeframe for large-scale crops sowing

The large-scale process of agricultural crops sowing will begin in mid-May in Kazakhstan, Trend reports citing Kazakhstan’s Agriculture Ministry.

The pre-sowing and sowing works have already begun in Almaty, Turkestan, Zhambyl, and Kyzylorda regions.

Thus, some 220,000 ha of land were already sown with grain and pulse crops, 30,000 ha with vegetables, over 11,000 ha with potatoes, and 15,400 ha with melons in the southern region of the country.

Some 141,700 tractors, 4,300 high-performance seeding complexes, 73,200 seeders, and 221,200 tillage implements are available in the country to carry out the spring field works this year.

The preparation of machinery is carried out in accordance with the plan. 100 percent of the equipment with be ready for operations by the time the spring field works begin.

Kazakhstan’s agriculture, forestry, and fishery gross output amounted to 591.3 billion tenge ($1.36 billion) over the period from Jan. through Mar. 2021, which is 2.8 percent more compared to the same month of the last year.

Some 584.802 billion tenge ($1.35 billion) accounted for agriculture alone including 33.5 billion ($77.4 million) accounting for plant growing, and 551.06 billion tenge ($1.2 billion) - for animal husbandry.
