More than 500 projects are planned to be launched in Kazakhstan in the upcoming five years, Vice Minister of Industry and Infrastructural Development of the country Marat Karabayev said at a briefing at the Central Communications Service, Trend reports.
According to Karabayev, as a result, more than 12 trillion tenge ($28 billion) of investments will be attracted to the country's economy, and over 100,000 new jobs will be opened.
It’s also planned to reduce the value of more than 50 imported goods to $3 billion, and goods worth more than 6 billion tenge ($14 million) will be exported within about 200 projects, he noted.
Besides, the vice minister spoke about several projects launched this year.
“The fourth transformer processing plant has been launched in Petropavlovsk. Their total capacity ranges from 32,000 to 44,000 units. In general, factories located in border towns are export-oriented, that is, 40 percent of their products are exported abroad,” he said. “In addition, the Qaz Carbon plant with the capacity is 58,000 tons producing ferrosilicon and ferrosilicon-manganese launched new ferroalloy production line.”
“Last year, a new plant for the production of ferroalloys was launched in the Karaganda region. As a result, Kazakhstan became one of the five largest countries in the production of ferroalloys, including ferrosilicon, rising from the 30th place in the world,” Karabayev also noted. “Moreover, we have major projects. After all of them are implemented, Kazakhstan will rise from the third place in the production of ferroalloys to the second place in the world.”
Along with the above, the first major project in Central Asia for the production of aluminum cans for the food industry will be launched in Shymkent. The cost of the project is 23 billion tenge ($54 million). It’s planned to be completed by the end of the year.
