Demand for coal sharply increases in Kazakhstan’s districts – ministry

The demand for coal has sharply increased due to cold weather in September in Kazakhstan’s central and northern districts, Trend reports on Nov. 24 referring to the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development of Kazakhstan.

"The Ministry, together with coal mining enterprises and Kazakhstan Temir Zholy JSC (Kazakhstan Railways) at the beginning of the heating season, recommended regional executive structures to stock up coal," the message said.

“So, according to the data of regional executive structures as of November 22, 2021, the provision with coal in relation to the general plan (from May 1, 2021 through April 2022) was as follows: the utilities sector - 97.4 percent; population - 93.9 percent,” the message said.

“The issue of additional provision of the population with coal was assessed on November 6 in the ministry with the participation of representatives of regional executive structures, coal mining enterprises and Kazakhstan Temir Zholy JSC,” the message said.

According to the message, the meetings on this issue are regularly held by the ministry. As a result, a decision was made to increase the shipment volume of coal to the districts.
