Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Askar Mamin instructed to submit an updated draft concept of industrial-innovative development until 2025 by December 10 this year to the Government, Trend reports citing Kazinform.

"For 10 months of this year, the processing industry provided growth of 5.3 percent compared to last year. Due to the implementation of large projects to expand the capacities of the Zhairem and Aktogay mining complexes, the construction of a gold recovery plant and a ferroalloy plant, as well as machine-building production plants, investments in fixed capital significantly grew – by 1.8 times, amounting to 1.2 trillion tenge ($2.7 billion)," Mamin said at the governmental meeting.

"The largest growth accounted for the pharmaceutical industry - by 33.6 percent, mechanical engineering - by 19.5 percent, the production of building materials - by 9.3 percent, the chemical industry - by 6.5 percent, and food production - by 3.6 percent," he added.

Speaking about the petrochemical industry, he informed that plants for the production of industrial gases and octane-enhancing additives have been commissioned this year, and a polypropylene plant is at the completion stage.

Besides, this year, the International Center for the Development of Oil and Gas Engineering was created, which will ensure the localization of the production of goods and expand the capabilities of domestic producers.

"In total, this year, within the framework of the Industrialization Map, it’s planned to commission 139 industrial projects in the food, construction, mechanical engineering, metallurgy and other industries for a total of 1.3 trillion tenge ($3 billion) with the creation of 12,700 permanent jobs. Of these, 83 projects worth about one trillion tenge ($2.3 billion) have already been commissioned," the prime minister said. "The rest will be introduced in the month of December. When reaching full capacity, the volume of production of these projects will amount to 1.1 trillion tenge ($2.5 billion), and a third of the products will be exported. All this work should be actively continued."

"Within the framework of the national project “Sustainable economic growth aimed at improving the welfare of Kazakh citizens” a special role is assigned to the processing sector. In accordance with the instructions of the Head of State, the Government needs to form a list of perspective single-industry towns, according to which potential growth points will be identified and comprehensive plans for their development worked out," Mamin noted.

He also instructed the ministries of industry, economy, and regional administrations, given the specifics of the regions, to work out a pool of "anchor" industrial projects for implementation in single-industry towns until March 1, 2022.

"The most important task in the development of industries is their adaptation to the growing trend of introducing new technologies into production processes. Therefore, it’s necessary to expand the list of tools to support digital solutions in the processing sector," he further said.

"The Ministry of Industry, by March 1, 2022, must ensure the adoption of the necessary regulatory framework to stimulate the implementation of digital solutions at enterprises. In general, the instructions of the Head of State to ensure the growth of the processing industry must be fulfilled efficiently and in a timely manner," concluded the prime minister.
