Kazakhstan to increase concessional lending to farmers

Kazakhstan intends to increase the concessional lending to farmers from the republican budget, Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerbol Karashukeev said at a governmental meeting, Trend reports referring to the Kazakh government.

“The concessional lending to farmers from the republican budget is expected to be increased up to 140 billion tenge ($319.3 million) through the Ken Dala program for growing crops, as well as for the production of early maturing vegetables and socially important food products to support the individuals and legal entities operating in the agro-industrial complex,” Karashukeev added.

The minister added that today the issues of providing agricultural producers with cheaper diesel fuel for conducting spring fieldwork are being resolved.

Earlier, the minister disclosed the measures which are being taken by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan to fulfill the instructions of the President.

“The ministry is taking measures of non-tariff regulation of the export of goods to ensure availability of food in the territory of the country in the volume necessary for population and stabilize the prices for socially important food products,” the minister said.

“Today there are the quantitative restrictions on the export of sunflower seeds and sunflower oil until July 1, 2022,” the minister added. “The export of potatoes and carrots was banned for three months, the export of live cattle and small ruminants was banned for six months. The export of grain forage will be also banned.”
