The 17th meeting of the Kazakh-Iranian Intergovernmental Commission co-chaired by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakhyt Sultanov and Minister of Agriculture of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyyed Javad Sadati Nejad was held in Tehran, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The agenda of the Intergovernmental Commission includes the issues of cooperation in the field of trade, economy, investments, agriculture, transport, logistics, banking, etc.
Kazakhstan offered Iran to create the Kazakh-Iranian Business Council. A dialogue between the businesses of the two countries, bypassing the intergovernmental processes, will be established through the Kazakh-Iranian Business Council.
Kazakhstan and Iran confirmed the interest to work on a permanent basis to remove the barriers to the trade and render support to the exporting companies as part of expanding the trade cooperation.
Sultanov offered the Iranian side to exchange the lists of potential export goods.
“According to our calculations, the Kazakh companies are ready to supply 60 various processed goods worth $162.3 million to the Iranian market in the future,” Sultanov said. “These are the metallurgical products, food products, engineering products, chemical products, pharmaceutical products, as well as construction products.”
The issue of supplying the Kazakh agricultural and food products to the Iranian market was discussed at the meeting.
Tehran also appealed to the Kazakh side with a request to support the export of Iranian agricultural and food products, such as fruits, vegetables, dried nuts, etc. to the Kazakh market.
During the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, Kazakhstan and Iran signed the Memorandums of Understanding between:
- the Technical Regulation and Metrology Committee of the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Iran National Standards Organization;
- the National Center of Accreditation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the National Accreditation Center of Iran;
- the Kazakhstan Institute of Standardization and Metrology and the Iran National Standards Organization.
