Kazakhstan plans to increase subsidies for seed production, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar said, Trend reports with reference to the Kazakh government.
Sklyar said that the current mechanism for subsidizing seed production covers all stages of high-quality seed production and envisages the reduction in the cost of seeds for agricultural producers to change and renew seed variety.
“Taking into account the priority of the issue, the mechanism for subsidizing seed production was improved in 2020,” the first deputy prime minister added. “In particular, subsidizing of high-quality seeds has been resumed, a high percentage of reimbursement of the funds spent for the high-quality seeds and the best seeds has been set.”
Sklyar said that moreover, the percentage of subsidies for the areas sown with the best seeds and the high-quality seeds has been increased.
“Presently, the issue of increasing the volume of subsidizing seed production is being worked out to expand the coverage of areas sown with high-quality seeds as part of the ongoing work to reform the subsidy system in the agro-industrial complex,” the first deputy prime minister said.
